The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Barbara Beard. A discussion ensued about the new "ranges" of numbers that could be used to change the current c-bed divisions. Volleyball and Cross Country proposals were reviewed. After considerable discussion, they came up with tentative new numbers, but decided they did not want to vote on those until a discussion on the proposals regarding division movement had taken place.

The Committee then began to discuss Proposals A, B & C that had been sent to them in June and again in September.

A All schools must remain in the division in which their enrollment places them.

  1. All schools must remain in the division in which their enrollment places them OR move to Division I
  2. No change in current policy. Any school may opt to move to any division higher than their current enrollment places them.

The league reps discussed the ballots they had taken with each of the coaches in their league. After some preliminary discussion a motion was made to approve proposal C. That motion was seconded. Following additional discussion that motion and second were withdrawn and a suggestion was made to cast the league votes for A B or C and see what the results were.

Each league was posted on the Board and each league cast their one vote (one per division in super leagues) for each of A, B or C above.

The result of that vote was: A-3 votes/B-8 votes/C-9 votes.

After some discussion about whether or not they should vote again between B and C, they decided that was not necessary and a motion was made that we remain with C for the 2001-2002 season and that the issue be discussed again at this year's evaluation meeting, after seeing how the tournament goes, and how teams move around with the new enrollment figures. The motion was seconded and passed 11-3-0

Next a motion was made to use the same enrollment division #'s as girls volleyball:
Division 1-1400+

Division 2-1100-1399

Division 3-900-1099

Division 4-300-899

Division 5 1-299

The motion was seconded and passed 13-1-0.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm

Attached is a copy of the boys and girls basketball C-beds that will be used for this year's tournaments with the recommended changes in division #'s.

This proposal will be an action item at the October 18, 2001 CCS Board of Managers Meeting.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the Committee Chair Barbara Beard,

Nancy Lazenby Blaser, CCS Commissioner
