QUALIFYING FROM REGIONALS TO SECTION TOURNAMENT
1. Team
Competition
a. Using the five (5) best scores of six
(6)-player-team stroke play over 18 holes, the top
four (4) teams from each Regional Tournament qualify
for the Section Championship.
b. If the 5th and 6th players have the same 18-hole score, the team
which player's score to use.
c. If there is
a tie for the 4th-place team, the USGA scorecard tie-breaker will be used to
determine which team advances

Competition
a. Using the best scores over 18-hole stroke
play, the top eight (8) Individual males from each
Regional Tournament who qualified to participate, as outlined in Section 3.-C.-2.a. & b.
above, and who are not
members of a qualifying team, will qualify for the Section Individual
Tournament.
b. If there is a tie for the 8th player to advance, the USGA
scorecard tie-breaker will be
used to determine who advances (see Section 5.-B.-1. below for scorecard tie-breaker
procedures). (Individuals eliminated in this scorecard tie-breaker will be
considered as
alternates, in order of their finish, if an Individual qualifier withdraws from
the Tournament
at least 24 hours prior to the Sectional Tournament.
c. In addition, all males on a
qualifying team will qualify for the Individual Section Tournament.
1. Team Section
Competition
a. Using the five (5) best scores of six (6)-player-team stroke

three (3) teams
qualify for the Nor-Cal Championship.
b. If the 5th and 6th players have
the same 18-hole score, the coach will determine which
player's score to use.
c. Time and course permitting, if there is a tie for
3rd place, there will be a sudden victory
play-off between the five (5) best scoring golfers on
the tied teams. If not, the USGA
scorecard tie-breaker will be used to determine which team advances (see Section
5.-B.-1. below for scorecard tie-breaker procedure).
2. Individual Section
Competition
a. Using
the best scores over 18-hole stroke play, the
top four (4) Individual boys, who are
not members of a qualifying team, will advance to
the Nor-Cal Individual Tournament.
b. Time and course permitting, if there is
a tie for the 4th qualifier, and/or for the 1st-place
medalist, there will be a sudden-victory play-off to determine who advances, and/or who
is the Individual Champion, respectively.

All males on teams qualifying for the Nor-Cal Team Tournament will
compete in the
Nor-Cal Individual Tournament.
Section 4. SEEDING PROCEDURES
Teams and Individuals will be separated into
two (2) fields of 84 players each for Regional play, and one (1) field of 64 players for the Section Tournament. No additional seeding will occur.

C. GALLERIES
If allowed by the local course being used,
galleries are permitted. However, all participants shall adhere
to the "no-advice" rule for the
duration of the Tournaments.
D. SCORING
A
coach, appointed by the CCS, will accompany each group and serve as the official referee and
enforce
the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will exchange scorecards on the 1st
hole and keep the official score
for one of the other members of the group. Each player is
responsible for the accuracy of his score for
each hole played. At the end of the round, each player shall
verify his score on each hole, and sign the
official scorecard
prior to it being turned in to the scorer's
table.
E. TEES
"Championship" (blue) tees will be
used for the Team and Individual Regional and Sectional
Tournaments if the slope from the
"Regular" (white) tees is less than 125. Otherwise, the "Regular"
(white) tees will be used.
**F. ATTIRE
Players' and coaches' attire must
conform to the rules of the course being played.
Section 7. SPORTSMANSHIP
A. The member
schools of the CIF/Central Coast Section are committed to providing a sportsmanlike
environment for students, coaches and
spectators.
| Our Sportsmanship Definition is: |
| A person who can take a loss or
defeat without complaint, or victory without gloating, and who treats his/her opponents with fairness, courtesy and respect. |
B. The following behavior is unacceptable at all CIF/CCS High School contests:
- berating your opponent's school or mascot |
- artificial noise makers |
- complaining about officials' calls (verbally or in gestures) |
- obscene cheers / gestures |
- berating opposing players |
- negative signs |
C. To this end,
each school is required to submit a signed Sportsmanship Contract for each of the
three seasons-of-sport before any of its teams is
allowed to participate in any CCS Play-off contest.
D. Each Principal
is required by the CCS Board of Managers to meet with any team or individual from
his/her school participating in the
Tournament to review CCS Sportsmanship Information.

for REQUIRED PRE-GAME SPORTSMANSHIP MEETING)
E. Coaches
and players
will attend a meeting with the Site Director where they will be reminded of the
importance
of good sportsmanship and to make certain their
Administrators have reviewed this
information with their athletes in the past week.
F. Players shall not use cell phones on the course during the
Tournament. Violation of this rule will be
considered unsportsmanlike
behavior.
G. Marshals appointed by the CCS are expected to enforce appropriate behavior during the
Tournament.
H. Unsportsmanlike behavior will result in the following
penalties:
1. First
offense - warning;
2. Second
offense - 2-stroke penalty;
3. Third
offense - disqualification.
Section
8. COACHES MUST BE PRESENT
Coaches are expected to remain at the
event throughout the competition. All student-athletes competing in any CCS contest
(scrimmages, alumni contests, pre-season, League and CCS Play-offs) must be accompanied by
a coach that meets the following criteria, as addressed in CIF Bylaws 308 and 506:
A. MUST BE THE "REGULAR COACH"
The coach of either a public or private school
team or athlete must be the coach of record for that
school for the current season and must comply with all
requirements of CIF Bylaw 506.
1. PUBLIC SCHOOLS
- All public school teams must be coached by persons who meet the
requirements of the California Education Code and the California Administrative Code Title
V.
2. NON-PUBLIC SCHOOLS
- In the case of a non-public school, persons engaged by that school on a
yearly contract basis as regular members of the school coaching or teaching staff and
certified by
the administrator for that school as competent for the position held.
B. EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
In the case of an emergency ONLY, the principal
of the school may designate an alternate coach, as
long as it is done in writing prior to the
contest and submitted to the League Commissioner for all
pre-season and League contests, and the CCS
Commissioner for CCS Play-off contests. Any alternate
coach MUST be an individual who meets all the
conditions required in Section 8.A.1.
above in the case
of a public school; and Section 8.A.2. above in the case of a
non-public school.
C. NO COACH PRESENT - STUDENT INELIGIBLE
Section
9. ELIGIBLE ATHLETES
A. No student-athlete will
be allowed to compete who is not accompanied by a coach or faculty
member of the school
which he or she is representing. Coaches are expected to remain at the
course throughout the Regional and Sectional
Championship competition.
B. All student-athletes must be in good standing with
their League, school and CCS in order to compete.
No ineligible athletes will be allowed to
compete.
C. Any player or coach who is disqualified from the
Tournament for FLAGRANT MISCONDUCT or
UNSPORTSMANLIKE BEHAVIOR will be disqualified
from all remaining contests in that sport that
season, including the Nor-Cal Tournament.
Section 10. PRACTICE AT CHAMPIONSHIP SITE(S)
A. Practice at
competition site(s) is allowed. However, the site must be willing to allow all
requesting
schools the opportunity to play a practice
round. The site MUST charge each school/player equally to
play. SUNDAY PRACTICE IS NOT
ALLOWED.
B. After APRIL 1st, no
practices or competitions may be held at the announced Nor-Cal Championship
site, except for those regularly-scheduled contests
by teams that have contracts to use the site as their
regular-season home course.
