the CCS meet marks in both events as records fell in nine events. Sprinter
Kelia Bolton of Andrew Hill took
the 100 and 220 in record times as her school collected 40 points to take the
team title at San Jose City
College. Andrew Hill HS went on to win the state team title.

Bier of Independence won her fourth straight CCS championship in the two-mile
and Menlo-Atherton’s Trish King erased the high jump record with a leap of
5-9 1/4 at San Jose City College. The day’s only double winner was sprinter
Gurtha Pounds of Live Oak in the 100 and 220. Fremont downed San Carlos for
the team crown. Track events were converted to the metric system, except for
the mile and two-mile.

2008
Mount Pleasant's Vashti Thomas captured the high
hurdles, long jump and triple jump for the second straight year and added the
100 meter title to her list of 10 career CCS individual championships. Despite
her personal heroics, Valley Christian edged the Cardinals, 52 to 51 points, for
the section's team title, ending Mount Pleasant's three-year run as champions.

2009
Angela Gradiska of Pinewood doubled in the 100 and 200. Jessie Peterson of Carlmont defended her 3200 meter title and Leland's Katie Nelms repeated as the intermediate hurdles champion. Leland shaded Gunn by four points, 39-35, to take the team title.

| Seven athletes defended their 2009 titles, with Katie Nelms of Leland winning her third straight high hurdles crown and sprinter Angela Gradiska of Pinewood taking both the 100 and 200. Other repeat winners were Lesha Hardiman, Wilcox (400), Hannah Goranson, Valley Christian (HH), Meagan McKee, Santa Teresa (SP), Julian Weir, Homestead (Discus), and Cydney Leath, Mt. Pleasant (TJ). Mt. Pleasant captures the team championship. |
