Paul Sedone of Pacific Grove became the first player outside the Peninsula area to take the singles title and a pair from R.L. Stevenson duplicated his feat in the doubles.

Cubberley High's Chip Fisher repeated as singles champion.

1972

The section's first team tennis tournament was won by Gunn.

SINGLES:

Jack Radin & Sam King, Palo Alto defeated Charlie Fisher & Sam Partan, Del Mar 6-0, 6-2

1973

Gunn won the team title again and the Titans' Nick Saviano retained the singles title.

SINGLES:

Nick Saviano, Gunn defeated Bill Shine, Los Altos 6-2, 6-0

DOUBLES:

John Hubbell & John Horn, Gunn defeated Tim Harper & Tom Harper, Willow Glen 6-2, 6-0

1974

Gunn won its third straight title and took the singles & doubles championships.

SINGLES:

Matt Mitchell, Gunn defeated Moezzi, Monterey 6-2, 6-2

DOUBLES:

Nial Brash & Mark Weisbart, Gunn, defeated Saffell & Batte, Monterey, 6-2, 6-0

TEAM:

 Gunn defeated Bellarmine 6-1

1975

Gunn continued to dominate the section tennis championships, winning another team title and taking the singles championship.

SINGLES:

Rick Cowden, Gunn defeated Marty Davis, Leland 6-1, 6-1

DOUBLES:

Brian Sours & Jim Leonard, Carmel defeated Francis Kuo and Mark Seftel, Harbor 6-7, (5-4), 7-5, 6-1

TEAM:

 Gunn defeated Bellarmine 6-1

 

1976

The format was unchanged.  Gunn continued as team champion for the fifth consecutive season..

SINGLES:

Eric Fieberling, Santa Cruz defeated Marty Davis, Leland 4-6, 6-2, 7-6

DOUBLES:

Terry Robertson & Hal Childers, Carmel defeated Tom Budge & Tom Ulrich, Homestead 7-6, 2-6, 6-2

1977

Gunn won its sixth straight team title.  The format remained the same.

SINGLES:

Scott Lipton, Blackford defeated Andy Lutz, Willow Glen, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3

Linebarger & Wang, Andrew Hill, defeatedDarrell Steinberg & Mike Jacobs, Capuchino 6-3, 6-2

 Gunn defeated Carmel 7-0

1978

Gunn retained the team title for the seventh consecutive year.  The tournament format was the same.

SINGLES:

John Sevely, St. Francis defeated Mark Strem, Aragon 6-4, 6-1

DOUBLES:

Kevin Baxter & Mark Gordon, Awalt, defeated Tony Wong and Chuck Sanderson, Leland 6-4, 6-2

TEAM:

Gunn defeated Leland 5-2

1979

Carmel stopped Gunn's team championship string, giving the section its first new champion since boys' tennis competition began.  The format was unchanged

SINGLES:

Glen Layendecker, Menlo School defeated Mark McKeen, Los Altos 6-3, 6-2

DOUBLES:

Bob Hepner & Geordie McKee, Menlo School defeated Bob Brigham & Bob Fealy, Burlingame 6-4, 6-7 (5-4) 6-1

1980

Gunn's tennis team returned to the winner'ss circle again.  The tournament format remained the same

Mike Ryan & Dan Emmerson, Salinas defeated Mark Fairchilds & Rich Wilkerson, Aptos 7-6 (7-5) 6-1

1981

Gunn was a repeat champion in the team competition.  Gun Anderson of Salinas, a runner up in the singles match the previous year, won the individual title.

DOUBLES:

Mark Fairchilds & Miguel Olivera, Aptos defeated Anthony Glanag & Olaf DeRouen, Carmel 6-4, 6-1

Gunn defeated Bellarmine 6-1

1982

Geordie McKee of Menlo School, who finished second a year earlier, won the singles title.  Bellarmine was team champion.

SINGLES:

Bellarmine repeated as team champion.  The Bells' Dave Steward & Ted Finegold took the doubles crown.

Brian Cory of Los Altos defeated teammate Mike Hoiten for the singles title and their school took first place in the team competition.

Menlo Atherton won its first team title and Bellarmine's Dave Stewart won the singles title.

Bellarmine's doubles team of Robbie Wendell and Gary Lane were first and their school was the team champion.

Gunderson's Brian MacPhie defeated teammate Eric Sasao for the singles championship.  Saratoga topped Los Altos as team champion.

Bellarmine defeated Leland for the team championship.  Its doubles team of Zack Reid and Matt Quinlan also won a title.

Homestead's Brandon Moglen was singles champion and his school won its first team championship.

Palo Alto won its first team title as the Central Coast Section ended its second decade of boys' tennis competition.

Palo Alto was the repeat champion in the team tennis competition

The team championship went to Palo Alto for the fourth consecutive year.  Chris Chatham & Scott Pfeiffer of Robert Louis Stevenson repeated as doubles champions.

Palo Alto's Doug Bohaboy won the singles crown and the Vikings took the team championship again.

Palo Alto's winning streak ended and Monta Vista won its first team championship.

Monta Vista and Menlo School repeated as Division I and Division II champions, respectively. In another repeat of 1998, Menlo ended the year undefeated and inflicted the only loss on Monta Vista in a non-league match.  Menlo finished 24-0 with a win in the CIF Northern California championship.
