CCS Basketball Teams Give Back With Toy Drive

The "2017 North Salinas Sportsmanship Classic Girls Basketball Tournament" was hosted December 14-16, however this year's torunament was a bit different. This year, NSHS girls basektball coach Darren Jackson added a Toy Drive to benefit underprivileged and/or homeless children from the Salinas area.

Over 100 toys were handed out to children from around the community at the tournament itself, and over 100 more were delivered to children in various local hostiptals.

Each team invoived in the tournament was asked to take part in the you drive, and players from the Everett Alvarez, King City, Seaside, North Salinas, Aptos, Soledad, Notre Dame, & Scotts Valley team all donated gifts for the toy drive, in addition to other donations from the community.

NSHS girls basketball coach and tournament director Darren Jackson said, "We all did this together. I think this is something each school should be very proud of...all 8 schools coming together for one common goal; putting smiles on the kids faces that need the love and kindness of others."

Great work to North Salinas HS, the 8 participating girls basketball teams, Coach Darren Jackson, and all others involved in making this wonderful event happen!
